  • Are You Asking the Right Questions?

secret code of successMy guest for a recent episode of the Duct Tape Marketing podcast was Noah St. John, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of SuccessClinic.com, an international success training company, and host of WealthyFunTV.

We talked about Noah’s new book The Secret Code of Success. I must admit that I had to start by giving him a bit of a hard time about the title – seems like every personal development book wants to convince you that there is some secret. Noah was quick to agree and I will say that while there is a great deal of content in his book that will be familiar to anyone who has read Brian Tracey or Zig Ziglar, there is one concept that I found very fresh and in my opinion worth the price of the book.

Most have heard of the concept of using affirmations to drive home goals, but for many people, affirmations – “I am incredibly good looking” or “I am wealthy” – just stimulate the mind to say, – No, not in a million years, pal.

St. John offers a slightly differenent twist he calls Afformations – basically affirmations in the form of a question that does seem to have a much more natural feel to it. Asking questions is one of the most powerful strategy clarifying practices that I do and I think applying this idea to the creation affirmations forces the brain to start thinking about answers.

Applied very strictly to business it might be – Why do we deserve referrals instead of simply we intend to be a referral based business. Try it yourself for a week or I think you might find it beneficial.
