What would it take to fiercely insist on yourself every day?

Introducing: The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur

About the book

The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur is organized as a daily devotional with 366 entries, one for each day of the year, including Leap Year.

Each day starts with a reading from a transcendentalist era author, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Willa Cather, Walt Whitman, Louisa May Alcott, and Henry David Thoreau, followed by a reflection and application by the author for today’s entrepreneur.

Writing the book

Writing any book is a bit of a journey for the author, but this book was an epic journey for me. It was such a great opportunity to immerse myself once again into some literature that I had not visited for some time and to reflect as I wrote upon my own life learnings.

I learned a great deal more about myself through writing this book and that is my hope for you when you read it.

The Author

John Jantsch is a marketing consultant, speaker, and author of Duct Tape Marketing, The Referral Engine, Duct Tape Selling, The Commitment Engine, and SEO for Growth.

His newest work, The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur: 366 Daily Meditations to Feed Your Soul and Grow Your Business taps into the wisdom of 19th-century transcendentalist literature and the author’s own 30-year entrepreneurial journey to challenge today’s entrepreneur to remain fiercely self-reliant while chasing their own version of success.

Why now

History has a somewhat predictable way of repeating itself. The literature found in The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur was penned during a time when the fabric of America was unraveling and people were finally becoming fed up enough to take action on things like women’s rights, slavery, and religious oppression.

This crisis culminated in the waging of the American Civil War. The current societal and political divide resembles that of the mid-nineteenth century and it’s time for a new generation of artists and entrepreneurs (regardless of current age) to emerge to help reshape unity and consensus before it’s too late.

"You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this".

- Henry David Thoreau, Walden
