Getting Started With Authority Marketing

By John Jantsch

Marketing Podcast with Brian Ainsley Horn

Last week I wrote about reputation management: Page One On Google is Your New Business Card. Today’s post goes hand in hand with the previous post.

Authority Marketing, or showing in places that people already value, can greatly increase your reach and expertise – all things that lead to more business and the ability to charge higher fees.

But, creating blog posts that appear on sites like Inc, Entrepreneur, Forbes and Huffington Post is also a tremendous way to build your overall positive reputation. Pages on these types of publications tend to rank well in search results so they help you claim page one real-estate while shoring up your backlink profile. A total win!

My guest for this week’s episode of the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast is Brian Ainsley Horn. Horn is the co-founder of Authority Alchemy and writes often about authority marketing. He and I talk about authority marketing and how to get published on popular sites.

Horn is a best-selling author and entrepreneur who helps professionals leverage their knowledge to gain authority status in their industry. He is considered to be the “pioneer of authority marketing”, which has exploded in popularity recently. His unique methods have been talked about and covered on The Howard Stern Show, Wall Street Journal, ABC, Perez Hilton, CBS News, Forbes, Advertising Age and dozens of other media outlets.

Questions I ask Brian Ainsley Horn:

  • What is authority marketing?
  • Should people pitch ideas or submit complete articles for consideration on authority sites?
  • What’s your favorite authority site?

What you’ll learn if you give a listen:

  • Why you should care about reputation management
  • How to get started with authority marketing
  • Why authority marketing should be a part of your marketing puzzle
